Due to increas- ing cooperation among supply chains as well as tighter regulations for the return of disposable transport packaging, the use of RTIs has been increasing steadily. RTIs include trays (cartons, small unit loads, kegs, bottles, etc.) as well as load units (pallets, cage boxes, etc.). In order to reduce the amount of capital tied up, the stock of RTIs should be kept as low as possible, while at the same time avoiding the risk of lost sales due to excessively low stock. RFID asset tracking systems bring trans-parency to RTI management. For analysis purposes, the following event data must be acquired and saved throughout the entire process chain:Which RTI has passed the data acqui- sition point? When did it pass? In which direction?Stand-alone applications and integrated material flow systems (WMS/MFC/SAP) can be realized using an EPC-compliant UHF antenna gate solution and an asset tracking server. ••• 4
