| | | Danobat has recently supplied a High Production grinding unit; model PG-1000-A, to grind the O.D. of a wide variety of parts-: transmission shafts, spiders, pinion shafts, etc. It is the fourth machine supplied by Danobat/ Overbeck to this customer during the last four years - customer satisfaction generates trustworthiness. The definition of the product and to specify the scope and the performance of the installation took a considerable effort both by the customer and Danobat. The flexibility, the production, the cycle times, the change over times, the precision and the reliability of the machine were the deciding factors for the customer and these are Danobat's strong points. The machine had to have the flexibility to grind five families of parts, 26 different items with various dimensions and shapes. Both the machine and the automatic loader are designed to suit a very large variation of parts with the minimum change over time. The PG professional grinder is a production machine equipped with a hydrostatic professional wheel head for a 0 760 mm wheel and 15 kW power for plunge grinding. It is a very robust machine with the bed made of perlitic cast iron; the work head, the wheel head and the tailstock are designed for high cutting loads. The automatic loading system, a four axes unit with double arm, can load and unload during the cycle time. The installation includes part turn around unit and an air blast station to finish automatically the part. Minimisation of the batch change over time was a key factor in this project. A considerable reduction in the number of clampings, carrying and handling fixtures was achieved after a careful study of the process together with the OEM. A comprehensive joint study with various suppliers lead to the specification of a wheel size suitable for grinding different reference parts without changing the wheel. The result was a finished part per grinding cycle. The machine includes an absolute multi-diameter measuring unit MDM developed and manufactured by Danobat for the measurement of continuous and interrupted diameters during the grinding process, guaranteeing the maximum dimensional precision. This measuring unit can measure in process all diameters processed during the grinding operation | | |

Additionally, a post-process measurement in automatic cycle with a printed measuring report eliminates the need of tedious manual operations and the possibility of human errors. For additional precision, the installation includes constant temperature coolant circuits to stabilize the machine. The reliability of the machine is not questionable. The installation works 24 hours per day 365 days per annum. The machine includes first class commercial components and it is well proven with the manufacture of automobile industry mechanical parts. The supply responds to the needs of the customer. Additionally, Danobat and Overbeck provide first class service support. The reactivity of Danobat/ Overbeck assures an optimal use of the machines. This is the guarantee for the future and links us to our customers. | | |
