Corning and Samsung Corning Precision Glass Co. Ltd. together ship more Generation 5 glass than any other manufacturer. Corning was the first to supply Generation 6 glass for commercial use. We're consistently at the forefront of evolving specifications and have the technology, engineering, and processes in place to introduce ever-larger sizes in response to customer demands.

Technological advances continue to progress rapidly. Since 2000, glass size has doubled approximately every 1.5 years. By 2006, Generation 5 and larger sizes are expected to account for about ³/4 of all glass substrates produced. Applications such as large-

screen notebook computers, LCD desktop monitors, and LCD televisions are all experiencing substantial growth.

Large-generation glass substrates enable dramatic economies of scale for LCD manufacturers through substantial cost efficiencies and greater output per substrate. Large generation sizes not only allow customers to get more panels per sheet, but also to produce larger panels. While a typical Generation 4 sheet yields four 17-inch panels, a Generation 5 sheet increases that yield threefold, to twelve 17-inch panels. A Generation 6 size substrate can produce eight larger panels of 32-inches, and a Generation 7 substrate can produce twelve 32-inch panels.
