Research indicates that the public respond more readilyto a spoken message than to an alarm tone. For this reason Menvier now offers a range of speech sounders incorporating a choice of messages, which in the event of a fire alarm activation are broadcast using clear intelligible human speech. Speech sounders are used in a variety of applications where it is important to provide clear instruction to building users in addition to an alarm tone. In line with BS5839, the sounder first emits an attention grabbing continuous alarm tone followed immediately by clear authoritative instructions as to the required action.
