| MERCURY GLASS TILT SWITCHES Glass Mercury switches for the most part are specialty switches that allow a diversity of features often not easily obtained in our metal switches. Glass switches are used in applications that require very low tilt angles, extremely low and consistent contact resistance, and other contact configurations that are often suitable in the safety and replacement markets that continue to allow the use of Mercury. The four major applications at present are thermostats, float switches, level controls, and safety devices. Where Mercury continues to be used, Comus glass and metal bodied Mercury switches are extremely reliable because of their hermetically sealed construction. The elimination of air and the permanent introduction of an inert gas permits higher load switching and longer life than mechanical switches. We are able to supply suitable mounting clips for most of the switches shown in this catalogue. Note the number at the bottom of each column. Further details of these can be found on our website. NOTE ON RoHS REGULATIONS: Mercury switches will remain available for use in products not covered by the European RoHS regulations. Supplies of Mercury switches will continue for applications permitting their use, including spares and reuse of equipment. |
