Known also as the “Combustion method”, it ensures precise results in few minutes by quickly breaking down the sample into its gaseous compounds. Gases produced, such as H20 and C02, as well as excess 02 are trapped and removed and NOx is reduced in order to ensure the accurate detection of the nitrogen. For the last 25 years Dumas has been preferred to the Kjeldahl method even in laboratories...

An encapsulated sample is placed into the loading head of the TCN2200, which is sealed and purged of any atmospheric gases that have entered during sampling loading. The sample is then dropped into a hot furnace which incorporates a unique high pressure pure oxygen design for very rapid combustion. By-products of combustion - C02, H20, NOx, and N2 - pass through the furnace filter and dust trap for subsequent collection in a ballast apparatus. These collected gases in the ballast are mixed, and then a small aliquot dose is taken and all gases removed or reduced until just Nitrogen remains....
