The Canada Line , formerly known as the Richmond-cAirport-Vancouver Line ("RAV Line") , is a newlrapid transit line of the Greater Vancouver Transportation lAuthority (TransLink) currently under construction. The line is lbeing built and will be operated by a private sector lengineering firm, SNC-Lavalin, for 35 years.lThe line will be the third in Greater Vancouver, Canadaland will be added to the existing rapid transit system,lbut will not use linear induction motor technology.lThe line is planned to connect downtown Vancouver to the lVancouver International Airport and Richmond City Centrelin time for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Governance of lthe project is through RAV Project Management (RAVCO), a lsubsidiary of TransLink. The line, when finished, lis expected to carry 100,000 passengers per daylat launch and 142,000 passengers by 2021 >
