Description
V-Seal was developed as a low cost alternative to a hermetic seal for long term storage in high humidity environments. The effort was driven in response to customer requirements for a seal that met IEC-IS 60335-2-47, "Commercial Boiling Pans", which is an international import inspection standard with stringent current leakage limitations.
High humidity environments present the greatest potential for moisture absorption. If moisture is absorbed into the electrical insulation material, higher than acceptable levels of leakage current can occur. In the presence of moisture, the insulation material functions less as a insulator and more as a conductor. For this reason, it is critical to maintain an effective seal during and after exposure to a high humidity environment. The ability to protect against moisture ingress relates directly to the life and reliability of the element prior to energizing into service. V-Seal ensures that protection.
