PRACTICAL USE TYPE FIXED POINT BLACK BODY FURNACE The IR-R0 series is a fixed point black body furnace for pratical use. Compact and selfcontained, it can be used as a standard unit when comparing a standard radiation thermometer with a production type thermometer. It consists of an electrically heated black-lead crucible, covered in high-purity metal and the specific calibration value, which is determined by the freezing point of the metal. JCSS calibration test (national stanndard) applicable Four values on the International Temperature Scale (ITS-90) are available. MODEL IR-R0 Fixed points Cu: Copper point (1084.62 ) Ag : Silver point (961.78 ) Al : Aluminium point (660.323 Zn : Zinc point (419.527 ) To simplify the task, an automatic operating system is provided. FEATURES High Accuracy Stable temperatures at each of the fixed points can be maintained for 8 minutes, reproducibility of the freezing point is within 0.1 , and the accuracy is better than 0.3 . Safety Factors If for some reason, the Argon purge fails when the furnace temperature is above 250 , an alarm sounds to alert the operator. On the other hand, if the sequence of operation has been completed and the temperature is above 250 , then the Argon purge will continue and will not turned off until the temperature fall below this level. The furnace is protected against the overheating by a high-limit burnout controller, so if the temperature exceeds the high-limit burnout setting or the thermocouple breaks, then it will automatically shutdown the power and alarm will sounds. Long-term Stability Less than 0.2 drift can be expected, during 200 repeats of fixed point realisation or over a period of about 2 years. Easy Operation In automatic mode, Argon gas purge automatically when the load switch is operated and the melting point sequence occurs automatically. So no adjustments are necessary. Operating Condition Confirmation Confirmation of the operating condition is provided by a lamp display, together with a digital display of the controller for the furnace inner temperature. Low Power Consumption Power consumption is about 800VA at 100V AC (Single-phase). Temperature rise time is about 2 hour for the copper point black body; each of the remaining three points be selected by the operator if required. Lightweight and Compact A compact housing containing the furnace body, control system and power supply components provides an easily moved system which can be mounted in a small space.
