SMS

EN 954-1

Special Safety Products SMS is short for Speed MonitoringSystem and is utilised as a safety compo- nent in all types of elevator and conveyor belts in new systems with shortened buf- fer stroke. It is also used as a modernising application to raise the transportation capacity.SMS is a safety light barrier with tworedundant channels and a monitoring cir- cuit. Each channel has its own micropro- cessor which monitors the measuring path and testing path with 3 dual light barrier pairs.Any exceeding of nominal speed (i.e. fal-ling below the flag-passing time and any conceivable errors) causes the immediate deactivation of the system. Errors are saved by the sensor and can only be dele- ted by deactivating the power supply.
