INTRODUCTION For regular monitoring of dusty environments in the workplace, hygienists have traditionally used personal air sampling pumps; these being worn by the operator. These allow a total exposure of dust over the working day to be calculated. However, in many areas, there is often a requirement to have more detail on when the actual exposure is taking place, which can only be given by real-time monitoring equipment. With this in mind, Casella CEL now offer a single kit of instrumentation that enables both methodologies to be undertaken, either individually or simultaneously. This allows employers to perform even more comprehensive surveys of the working environment and help with the implementation of appropriate control measures as required by the legislation.
