Surfi-Sculpt ™
Precision Controlled Surface Shaping
A new electron beam process called Surfi-Sculpt enables the rapid creation of surface structures through the manipulation of beams over the surface of materials. The features produced are unique to this new technology. Surfi-Sculpt is applicable to all metals and a wide variety of other materials.
Surfi-Sculpt:
• Is applicable to a variety of materials
• Allows the creation of an wide range of hole and slot patterns
^ Enables the location and size of all the elements to be precisely controlled
Potential applications of Surfi-Sculpt include:
Surface preparation prior to spray coatings - ceramic on metal and metal on metal
Surfi-Sculpted titanium coated with alumina
Metal to Polymer joints
Metal to composite joints - a process called Comeld™ being developed by TWI
