The economics behind an accident in the dock area can be compared to an iceberg; The accident itself costs on average somewhere around 4,200 Euro* – but the hid-den costs resulting from the accident are substantially higher. When buying equipment for the dock area, most people consider the initial invest- ment price and perhaps the quality with a view to durability, bearing in mind the cost of service, spares and replacement. Caljan A/S was founded by two engi- neers: Kaj Calundan and Svend Jansen. From their headquarters on the outskirts of Aarhus, Denmark they produced some of the world’s best material handling systems for loading and unloading cargo. Rite-Hite Europe was established in Twello, Netherlands CAEMA Verladesysteme GmbH, one of Germany’s leading manufacturers of dock equip- ment was acquired by Rite-Hite and fusioned with the European organisation. SAFEtrack telescopic conveyor system was launched in Europe. Anticipating health and safety legislation, this popular machine for loading/unloading is still the safest on the market today. Caljan Rite-Hite acquires Log- Comp. This acquisition means that Caljan Rite-Hite’s compre- hensive programme of telescopic conveyors and parcel registration units will be extended to include belt curves and labelling systems. Caljan Rite-Hite has approx. 400 employees, production facilities in Denmark and Latvia and sales offi ces in Holland, UK, France, USA, Germany and Belgium. Together with our network of distributors, we are able to service customers world-wide. The son of the founder, Michael White is the current chairman of the Rite-Hite Organisation. Some 1600 employees are placed in more than 100 locations throughout the world. Rite-Hite places strong emphasis on research and development, leading to new products that pioneer the industry.
