Text version of the page
OptoLED Light Source Instantaneous wavelength switching Recent developments in Light Emitting Diode [LED] technology have yielded devices that are both brighter and capable of operating at more different wavelengths than their predecessors. High intensity LEDs of all visible colours are now available, and UV devices are now also beginning to make an appearance. Unlike more traditional light sources, the absence of harmful ultraviolet and infrared radiation, whilst still providing a high light intensity, makes them an ideal choice for fluorescence and transmitted light microscopy. The OptoLED has a modular design and can be coupled to all popular microscopes. Applications Fluorescence microscopy Illumination of large areas for macro imaging Voltage sensitive dye recording Activation of channelrhodopsin Calcium imaging Key Benefits High intensity Near perfect stability Instantaneous vibration free switching Long life (should never need replacing) Variable intensity – no need for ND filters Minimal unwanted infrared (heat) output More compact than traditional light sources Two channel control as standard
