Bronkhorst High-Tech

Research and Development

Bronkhorst High-Tech annually invests approximately 15% of its turnover in the development and improvement of itsproducts. These activities are mainly geared to the demands of the market, as co-operation with our customersensures that new products for specific applications are designed or modified. As a result of this flexible businessattitude Bronkhorst has realised a steady annual growth in turnover. The original “new” ideas were patented and ever since a regular flow of patents have been applied for to such an extent that we now have a number of patents registered in the EU, the USA and Japan. In addition to flow meters for gases, Bronkhorst developed pressuretransducers and controllers, mass flow meters for liquids, control valves and analog readout systems. The latter wassuperseded in 1991 by the FLOW-BUS system, a digital electronics system for sensors and controllers. In 1995 Bronkhorst introduced digital pc-boards for application in mass flow meters and controllers and in co-operation withTNO-TPD (the applied physics institute of TNO) a new generation of liquid mass flow meters was developed that wasinsensitive to mounting position. Furthermore Bronkhorst developed a mixing chamber with controlled evaporation. By means of this so-called CEM-system (Controlled Evaporator Mixer) gas-liquid mixtures can be accuratelycontrolled. In 2002 the CORI-FLOW
® series was introduced, the first generation mass flow meters and controllersbased on the Coriolis measuring principle. Due to micro system technology Bronkhorst High-Tech could present itsfirst chip-sensor based flow and pressure meters/controllers in 2004. The instruments of this IQ
+ FLOW
® series are ascompact as a matchbox and therefore very suitable for system builders looking to downscale the size of theirequipment.
