Functionning principle
The tacho-encoders and the opto-tachos use the non contact optoelectronic reading system ofthe incremental encodersThe pulses provided bythe optical reading are protected against electromagnetic perturbation. The analogue output isget fromtheconversion of the readed disk frequency into a proportional voltage or a currentThe tacho-encoders provide : - the incrementalsignals of an
incremental encoder - linear analogue signal proportional tothe rotation speed of the encoder shaftThe Opto-tacho provide only the analogue signal >
Signal specifications
The opto-electronic reading principle insures an exceptional life timewithout any maintenance. The voltage output can forexample be used to send the speed information to a displaynear the engine. For applications with electricaldisturbances, the current outputallows an optimum functioning per current loopVoltage output : 0 to 10 Vdc Current output: 0 to 20 mA Current output: 4 to 20 mA
On 2 quadrants : voltage output Currenty output
Standard calibration : in
industrial counter clockwise rotation the analogueoutput is positiveN calibrated (in RPM) can be choosen between 10 rpm and the maximal rotation speed which can be reached by the encoder (cfmechanical characteristics of the encoder) >
Analogue signal characteristics
Frequency range atmaximalspeed < 5 kHz > 5 kHz Linearity 0,1 % 0,05 % Responsetime10 % to 90 % 50 ms 30 ms Comment :
•The minimum frequency must over than 800 Hz for the 10Vor 20mA speed signal; this must betaken in accountwhen choosingthe resolution or the calibrated rotation speed. Frequency(Hz) = Resolution x rpm / 60• Check the maximum frequency that can be reached by the incremental signal(100kHz standard, 200kHz option)For verylong length of cable or slow rotation speed, it is advised to use an incremental encoder associated with a subsequentelectronic(at the level of the
PLC for example) frequency/voltage or frequency/current (frequency signal are less sensibletothe external electromagnetic perturbations >
