Automotive Optocouplers
Most modern vehicles use communication media such as CANBus for data transmission and system control. In CANBus where trans­mission speed is up to 1Mbps, two 10MBd ACPL-M61T optocouplers in the CANBus interface are used for safe isolation such as in air-conditioner compressor controllers and battery management systems.

Description
Avago Technologies introduces a series of automotive optocouplers: ACPL-M43T and ACPL-M61T. These single channel, wide op­erating temperature, high CMR, high speed digital optocouplers in a five lead miniature footprint are specifically used in hybrid electric vehicle applications.
These digital optocouplers have an im­proved version of the light emitting diode for lower input driving current thus, pro­viding longer LED operating lifetime, lower power consumption and higher efficiency over a -40°C to +125°C temperature range.
The typical circuit in the hybrid electric ve­hicle's motor inverter controller, DC-DC con­verter system, shows how the ACPL-M43T interfaces with the IPM module IGBT gate drive as well as fault detection isolation.
