| | | THE IMPORTANCE OF GEOMETRICAL PROPERTIES State-of-the-art disc writers and readers operate at speeds more than 20 times greater than the CLV of 1.2 m/s which the compact disc was originally designed for. With increasing mechanical and electrical performance built into the writers and readers, the demands on disc quality have also increased. Deviations of the disc's geometrical properties from their target values are one important cause for disc writer/ reader malfunctions. If the position of the disc's central hole is even slightly eccentric from the actual exact center of the disc, the effort required to control read and write heads is much greater than for correctly punched discs. Consequently, the reading or writing speed is clearly reduced by the system controller. The ETA-GT II enables you to verify symmetry at all stages of the production process, and for all disc formats, and thereby secure playability. | | |
