POWERSTACK™ MC250
Astris POWERSTACK™ MC250 is a monopolar, alkaline fuel cell stack for use in fuel cell systems in the 300 W - 10 kW range. Through the elimination of platinum as a catalyst and the use of an inexpensive electrolyte, the POWERSTACK™ MC250 has a much lower material cost than competing low temperature fuel cells.
The use of potassium hydroxide as an electrolyte
allows the POWERSTACK™ MC250 to operate
at sub-zero temperatures. With its low operating temperature and no requirement for pre-start humidification, the MC250 has one of the most rapid startup times of any low-temperature fuel cell.
Conceptually similar to the proven LABCELL™ LC200 design, this product is modular, allowing assembly of stacks in multiples of 300 W nominal power up to 2400 W per stack. Stacks operate on hydrogen and air, at ambient pressure.
