www.apisensor.comSteel Production: Alignment of roller series at BAO Steel in China - 15655 Alignment of roller series at BAO Steel in ChinaDuring a measurement task it was detected that the armour plate moved away from the original track whilst the rolling mill was in operation. Whilst investigating this problem it was discovered that this devia- tion was due to the poor parallelization between each of the two rollers. However, it was unknown which roller was in the wrong place relative to the others and how much deviation there was. The Laser Tracker is ideally suited for solving this issue and can be widely applied to the roller adjustments of the Continuous Annealing Unit of the Rolling Mill and Coating Device Unit. Adjustments of the rollers’ centreline:The centre of the rolling mill deviates from its original position after long periods of operation due to vibra- tion and abrasion, which then has a bad effort on the product quality if correct adjustment is not applied to system. Therefore, routine inspections of the rolling mill’s centre and proper adjustment should be carried out to meet the requested quality inspection levels. Thanks to the Laser Tracker’s excellent ability in spa- tial measurement, the abrasion amount can be easily calculated based on the results from the Tracker’s inspection. The pad can be properly burnished and compensated so that the deviation of the rolling mill centre can be controlled for errors within 0.3mm.
