How the Technology Works The technology behind Altek Foamed Systems uses a proprietary agent that when added to catalyzed resin immediately forms a foaming cellular structure within the resin and causes it to expand. The foamed layer is used in the back and side walls of tub/shower walls as a replacement for cardboard stiffeners. A thin pass is applied through a spray gun which then expands, or foams. The foamed layer is encapsulated on both sides. It is applied on top of a skin coat laminate and then followed with a back-up laminate, therefore covering the foam.
