OPTICALMEASURINGINSTRUMENTSShort dead zone? ?IP network connection check function Short dead zone of 1 m (event)Effective for FTTx The IP Option for the MT9080 Series AccessMaster provides Ping and Trace Route functions required for testing network access, as well as download throughput measurement functions for evaluating FTTH service speeds plus two-way throughput measurement func- tions for evaluating optical circuits for business. In particular, the download throughput measurement function is ideal for evaluating actual network performance with no impact on measurement from PC performance. Since it also supports Gigabit networks (1000Base- T),it also supports future ultra-high-speed FTTH services. The MT9080 Series ACCESS Master has achieved an event dead zone of 1 m and a high sampling resolution of 5 cm, so the connec- tion status in a building and the failure location, which were hard to analyze, can be analyzed and identified. This OTDR is small but has a high performance.1.5 m4 m10 m 1 2 3 Mechanical spliceMechanical splice 1 2 3?Both monochrome and color LCDs Models are available with two types of LCD to match the usage en- vironment. The monochrome LCD offers excellent screen visibility when working under direct sunlight outside in the field, while the color LCD is perfect for inside work.?38 dB dynamic range As optical access networks are becoming more widespread, engi- neers are undertaking increasing amounts of optical installation and maintenance work, requiring more maintenance of metro fiber than previously. Since the MT9080 AccessMaster has a dead zone of less than 1 m plus a high dynamic range of 38 dB it is perfect for this type of installation and maintenance work. And its full range of pow- erful functions will make it the ideal measuring instrument for work- ing on future optical access networks.?High-speed starting for 15 or less seconds The MT9080 Series ACCESS Master has realized high-speed start- ing. It is 15 or less seconds until a top menu is displayed from a pow- er supply injection. Therefore, it puts into work, without waiting.?Telcordia format (SR-4731) supported The Telcordia format (SR-4731), the common format for OTDRs, is supported.?More than 1,000 waveforms recordable in the internal memory; more than 30,000 waveforms recordable with an additional USB memory∗ 1 The MT9080 Series ACCESS Master can record files of more than1,000 waveforms in the internal memory. If a USB memory is in- serted into the USB port, files of more than 30,000 waveforms ∗ 1 canbe recorded. ∗ 1: When a 512 MB USB memory is used. ?Active fiber check If the fiber being tested contains communication light, the OTDR can- not perform measurement successfully. Also, the pulse light from the OTDR may damage the receiver of a system such as WDM or PON that performs transmission and reception through one fiber. The MT9080 Series ACCESS Master executes an active fiber check before emitting a pulse, and displays the check result on the screen. This function is provided to ensure normal measurement and protect communication system.?Waveform comparison function 1.31/1.55/1.65 µm three-wavelength OTDR?Measurement data is compared with the saved data by reading it. If measurement data is compared with the data provided when the op- tical fiber was installed, this function can be used to check aging and identify the failure location in the event of a failure. Current OTDR models only have two built-in wavelengths and when the 1.65-µm wavelength is required for field testing, the plug-in unit has to be changed, which is troublesome. To overcome this problem, three models (MT9081F, MT9081F1 and MT9080F) in the Access Master series offer three built-in wavelengths (1.3/1/55/1.65 µm), avoiding the inconvenience of carrying extra plug-in units for chang- ing in the field.?Warning level setting function Events of loss and reflection at or above the set level are highlighted in the event table. At a glance, whether the line is acceptable can be identified when connection loss at each point is evaluated in instal- lation or maintenance of the optical fiber.?Emulation software MX907600A This PC software is used to analyze and edit the recorded data on a Windows-based PC in the office.
