Single Unit Support for W-CDMA/HSDPA and GSM/GPRS Chipset and Mobile Device Protocol and Application Testing

MD8480C W-CDMA Signaling Tester

The MD8480C is a Base Station Simulator for testing 3.5G W-CDMA mobile phone stations with High Speed Download Packet Access (HSDPA) functions. It has an air interface conforming to 3GPP specifications, and permits a full range of application tests. Capabilities include testing chipset and mo- bile station coding/decoding processing, voice and packet com- munications, and MS-to-MS testing (requires two MD8480C units). MD8480C protocol sequence tests include position reg- istration, origination/termination, handover (option), and dis- connection from a mobile station/network. Moreover, by adding optional functions for GSM/GPRS, han- dover tests between W-CDMA and GSM/GPRS can be per- formed. The MD8480C is ideal for developing UMTS mobile UE supporting global services, as well as for evaluating high- function application software for mobile stations that support HSDPA.(For further information see page 276)

MX848086A 3GPP Protocol Analyzer

Users of MD8480 W-CDMA Signaling Tester can now analyzetheir trace logs instantly and decode them fully. The MX848086A 3GPP Protocol Analyzer is an additional tool for the MD8480, providing fast and accurate analysis of the mes- sages between a UE and the MD8480 system simulator. This tool provides a real advantage for development teams involved in 3GPP UE advancement, where the number of scenarios needed is growing rapidly. The tool is intuitive to use and provides the ideal graphical en- vironment to allow study of the complex protocol messages that pass to and from the UE under test; particularly the RRC and NAS messages. The MX848086A has been designed to support the iterative process that cycles between Design, Test Analysis, Test Execution and Results Analysis. It is one tool in the family of Anritsu products that has shaped the way 3rd Generation UEs have been developed.
