Reliability and safetyEWB™ elastic winding beddings VA TECH HYDRO developed a system for the permanent elastic embedment of high voltage windings in stator and rotor cores, using a highly conductive elastomer material with the following advantages:? Permanent elasticity Our EWB™ system can be applied in any mounting posi- tion and is equally suitable for repairs as well as for mounting windings in new equipment.Based on the state of the arttechnologies already imple- mented with our system pro- ducts; this enables us to deve- lopa rich future continuosly researching new technologies. As we are living in a world of increasing communication we expect the same for our hydro systems. The network struc- ture of the bus system is the key for success as it uses a worldwide common platform, the Internet protocol. Our efforts in research confirm that we are a company heading towards the future in hydro applications.And the future is called NEPTUN. To calculate dynamic behaviour and ther-mal conditions and to determine the stress and deflections of the machine, we use the Finite Element Analysis method in con- junction with our advanced material andmanufacturing technologies. For the de- tailed design of the components we use the 3D volume orientated CAD system UNIGRAPHICS which gives a realistic 3-dimensional view of all components in order to achieve finally a maintenance- friendly product that fulfills highest safety requirements.Our vacuum-pressure impregnated VACUBAND™ high voltage insulation sys- tem is based on mica and top-quality epoxy resins and has significantly improved dielectric characteristics. As a result of us- ing only self extinguishing, class F insula- ting material and permanent monitoring of the manufacturing process, our insulation system has excellent electrical, thermal and mechanical properties combined with outstanding endurance performance. State of the art technology in the de-sign of highly sophisticated methods of electro-machanical calculations, focusing on detailed magnetic field investigations, guarantee the efficiency of our generators.5 |
