General information

Position display units consist of a digital position display for one to three axes and one or several length measuring systems. They are particularly suitable for use on manually operated machine tools (such as milling machines, lathes manufacturer irrespective of whether they are new or used), measuring facilities and generally wherever one or several non-controlled axes need to be measured. The use of position display units facilitates more precise machining operations as the traverse paths are measured directly so that spindle errors and play as well as reversal errors have no influence on the measurement result. The use of AMO position display units also completely eliminates vernier read-off errors as the position is read off directly from the position display. Experience has shown that not only the accuracy of the finished parts increases but also the share of faulty components is significantly reduced in conjunction with shorter idle times. Consequently, due to the increased productivity, the investment in a position display unit quickly pays for itself, in some cases in only a matter of months.The AMOSIN length measuring system operate in accordance with the AMOSIN measuring principle (pure inductive scanning) developed by AMO GmbH and are therefore extremely resistant to cooling lubricants, metal chips, dust etc. and are thus predestined for use in particularly harsh environments. System failures due to soiling of the measuring system are therefore a thing of the past. Particular care must be taken when selecting the mounting location to ensure that the measuring systems are placed as close as possible to the working area in order to achieve the maximum possible degree of measuring accuracy. Mounting of these measuring systems is extremely user-friendly and simple thanks to the large mounting tolerances.
