As soon as the sampling mode is started, the container is elevated until the heating compartment is completely closed air-tight. After reaching the pre-set temperature followed by the incubation time, a heated gas-tight syringe withdraws a defined gas amount via the sampling port inlet. Finally the gas sample is injected into a GC or GC/MS system for detection. The sample elevator returns to its starting position, so that the analyzed sample can be removed from the container.
