The 6840 series RF and microwave system analyz-ers are a powerful new tool for the microwaveindustry. Integrated into a single instrument are asynthesized source, a three input scalar analyzer and a synthesized spectrum analyzer. The internalsource can be used as a simple CW output, as a swept source for scalar measurements, as a tracking industrial generator withthe spectrum analyzer and as an offset tracking source for networkmeasurements on frequency translation devices.This flexibility simplifies a range of previously complex but com-monly made measurements. The receiver in the spectrum analyzer can be used as a tuned input for high dynamic range scalar meas- urements. The FM option adds frequency modulation to the source.The Group Delay option allows simultaneous measurement and dis-play of group delay and amplitude response, and includes the fre- quency modulation option.
