Upgrading from a System80 to the Aeroflex 4200 Series, solves this compatibility issue as well as offering a wealth of benefits from changing platform. Aeroflex offers a System80 to 4200 Series translation package including software that will translate the old INCITE file into the 4200 Series programming language, MTL. A fixture adaptor is also available allowing System80 fixtures to still be used. This ensures all the existing investment in fixtures and programs is maintained. The new 4200 Series testers, as well as maintaining compatibility, offers many advantages and features that are unavailable on the older platform. Compatibility The System80 to 4200 Series software translates the majority of tests to MTL automatically. All of the original debugged code, guards, delays etc, is maintained, ensuring the minimum time to have an equivalent program running in terms of test coverage. The software also allows for new tests to be generated for devices that are not tested on the System80. This takes advantage of the advanced test capabilities of the 4200 Series and further enhances the test coverage for any given program. With a higher test coverage costs can be saved as faults do not propagate onto later test stages where repair costs are much higher. Existing fixtures may also be utilised with the fixture adaptor that is available ensuring that the initial investment in the System80 fixtures is maintained.
