Multi-Channel Serial Port Controller for PC/104 General Description

The Serial104 features 8 serial communication ports on a single low power PC/104 card providingunprecedented level of serial port integration, performance and flexibility. The Serial104 PC/104 Communications card provides a cost-effective solution for expanding the number of serial ports on aPC/104 system. The Serial104 utilises ultra high performance industry standard UARTs withenhanced features resulting in improved flow control and extremely high data rates. Each one of the8 channels on the Serial104 may be individually configured for RS232, RS422 or RS485 operationat asynchronous speeds up to 10Mbits/sec. An on-board interrupt controller and flexible address decoding allows the Serial104 to occupy only a single IRQ line on the PC/104 system thus reducing IRQ resource overhead in hardware intensive applications. Because of the flexible address decodingand on-board interrupt controller, a PC/104 system can support up to 2 Serial104 cards thusproviding 16 serial channels in addition to the 2 or 4 serial channels giving a total of up to 20 serialports on the PC/104 stack. The Serial104 is provided with software drivers for the most popularOperating Systems including MSDOS, Windows95/98/NT/CE, and RTOS such as pSOS, QNX, etc.
