eX Solves the Power Problem Actel’s eX family of FPGAs integrates an efficient low power programmabletechnology with high-performance interconnect in a secure, nonvolatile, single-chip package. This third-generation low density FPGA is based on our successful and popular SX architecture. Combining enhanced features from our previous offerings, eX brings new levels of performance to Actel customers. Targeted for consumer electronics markets at high risk from reverse engineering, eX enables designers to use single-chip programmablelogic for their traditional low-density ASIC requirements without the longleadtimes and costly NRE charges. Today’s consumers demand longer battery life and smaller form factors than ever before. Integrating a low power solution that can meet the highperformance requirements of today’s converging technology is one of thesingle most problematic requirements faced by system designers. Actel’s patented antifuse process has low resistance properties, and the architecture does not require active circuitry to hold a charge, reducing thermal and power supply design problems. Actel’s low power antifuse architecture also eliminates the need for bulky heat management solutions, further reducing board space and system overhead.
