R Port ect ensin i nal evice
The camera must be informed when an object on the transport is about to enter its reading zone. An object-sensing signal device, typically a photoeye, is used to do this. The device is mounted on the transport upstream from the camera in relation to transport travel. It informs the camera when the leading edge and trailing edge of objects traveling on the transport have passed. Several object-sensing signal inputs can be used with the camera. Typically, one of the following options is used:
Retro-reflective Pair: An emitter bounces a light beam off the reflector and detects when the beam is broken. The standard photoeye is a retro-reflective sensor. A cable is provided with this device for connection to the TRIG port.
Emitter / receiver Pair: An emitter sends a light beam to the receiver, which detects when the beam is interrupted. An emitter/receiver pair is used in a situation where tape or lamination on an object on the transport could mimic a reflector, which would render the retroreflective pair inadequate.
