1 Erection
1.1 Storage
If the unit is to be stored for a lengthy period.it should be located at a place free from vibrations. Protect the electric motor against moisture.
1.2 Installation
When the unit is installed in a pit.the aperture should be vertically lined. When placed in a tank.the aperture should be reinforced with beams. The pump should normally be placed on the rubber supports supplied to avoid critical vibrations.
1.3 Piping
The discharge piping should be properly supported.so that no loads or stresses will be transferred to the unit. Install a short piece of pipe and a balanced compensator next to the pump to facilitate lifting. See Fig. 1. If this piece is not flexible.the discharge pipe must not be rigidly supported next to the pump.
Taps at right angles and sudden increases in diameter give unnecessary losses and may also cause noise.
2 Start-up and maintenance

Fig. 1
2.1 Before Start-up
Lubricate the bearings.if the pump has been standing for a long time since delivery.
Ensure that the pump shaft turns freely by hand.
Check the direction of rotation by running the motorfora fewseconds.
2.2 Start-up
Start the pump against a closed - or partially open discharge valve. Open the discharge valve.until the required pumping capacity is attained. If the rated capacity is significantly exceeded.it is possible that the motor could be overloaded.
2.3 After Start-up
Check bearing temperatures and noise. Bearing temperatures will normally stabilize between a few hours and one day after start-up.
2.4 Adaption
If the pump continually is operating against a partially closed valve.the pump should be adapted to the total head required by reducing thediameterof the impeller. This will minimize damages caused by vibrations.i.e. bearings and shafts will last longer and give great savings on energy. The new impeller diameter is calculated by means of the performance curve. If this is not at hand.contact ABS.
ATTENTION
Do not run the pump at another speed than the rated one. If you wish to change the speed.contact ABS.
