Advantex™: the breakthrough technologyHigh corrosion resistance for a long service life 3B The Fibreglass Company contin-ues to lead the field when it comes to innovating products to improve the productivity, performance and profitability of our customers. Take, for example, Advantex™, the result of a breakthrough in fibre-glass formulation and technology that brings together minimized environmental impact and maximized product performance. Advantex™ has been specially formulated as a boron-free E-glass that delivers significantly improved corrosion resistance across a wide range of aggressive environments. Advantex™ glass is classified as both an E-CR glass and an E-glass in accordance with ASTM D578 and ISO 2078. Field data comparing the acid resistance of Advantex™ glass to that of traditional E-glass confirm that Advantex™ provides substantially better resistance to the sustainedcorrosive effects of acidic environments. Advantex™ glassfibre is also performance proven through the long-term exposure to all aqueous environments, including waterand alkaline solutions. This translates into two potential benefits for the customer over traditional E-glass, namely: longer service life and larger safety coefficients for the same design; and material savings – for example reduction in sections and wall thickness. Material savings also translate to other savings like fuel, labour and installation costs.Courtesy of Amiantit High temperature resistance for high performance applications Compared to traditional E-glass, Advantex™ glass has a higher annealing point and softening point. Respective temperatures are 736°C and 916°C for Advantex™compared to just 670°C and 846°C for traditional E-glass. This high temperature performance makes Advantex™ ideal for applications that demand long-termresistance to elevated temperatures, such as exhaust systems where sustained high thermal resistance is essential. High fibre strength is maintained even at temperaturesof up to 740°C, making Advantex™ resistant to degradation when exposed to exhaust gases and continuous vibration within the muffler. Advantex™ glass can also be used in form of needle felt mats for heat insulation and protection. www.3B-fibreglass.com |
